MAL STEWART'S OLD APPLE SHED
Established in 2017 on the Mornington Peninsula, Mal Stewart's Old Apple Shed is the culimination of 30 years of wine & cider making expertise.
The Old Apple Shed is not your usual cellar door experience. Set within a working winery, we provide a rustic, relaxed and sometimes rambunctious experience. As our setting is in the heart of a working winery, the venue can look different each visit, as often the Barrel Room is being utilised for the wine making process.
We've quickly become popular with wine tours on Saturday's and have become a favourite for locals on Friday's and Sunday's; if you're not local, we'd still love you to drop by and say hello too of course!
We also love throwing fully catered private functions taking bookings for weddings, engagements, Christmas parties, birthday's and everything in between.
MEET THE TEAM AT THE OLD APPLE SHED
Starting out as a chemical engineer working in the packaging industry, Mal decided what goes into the packaging would be way more interesting!
Mal completed a wine science degree at Charles Sturt University and has become a specialist in sparkling. Mal's been making wine & cider since the 90's for some of Australia most respected labels. Mal's a winemaker who enjoys making all types of wines, that's why our wine list is so extenstive, including red and white table wines, sparkling wines, ciders and a ginger beer. Mal loves making them all!
If you've already visited the Old Apple Shed, there's no doubt you've met our "Hostess with the Mostess" Kate. Vibrant and veracious, Kate prides herself on creating the most relaxed cellar door on the Mornington Peninsula, with endless stories and generous tastings.
Running the show in a working winery means Kate is always thinking on her feet, rearranging the venue to accommodate the wine making process that occurs onsite. Kate is a trained chef by trade who loves finding the perfect food and wine pairings. She's the brains behind our peckish food menu and the reason for so many happy customers!
Old Apple Shed's Sunday Mascot
We'd love to pretend that Willow was in charge of protecting the stock, but she's more of a pussy cat than anything else. You'll meet the big softy Willow Sunday's. The only thing she likes more than pat is sharing your pancakes if you are inclined too.
We're dog friendly at the Shed during the week and on Sunday's (if your pups play well with others). Saturday's can be a little too hectic for our K9 friends.
